Geoconsult is a privately owned New Zealand engineering consultancy established in 2009, specialising in the fields of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. Geoconsult provides affordable geotechnical services with quick turnarounds, primarily to the New Zealand market, with a focus on delivering practical, cost efficient solutions to our clients. With over 10 staff members between our offices in Auckland, Christchurch, Tauranga, Hamilton and Whangarei our team of professional Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists have a wide range of experience and expertise within both the geotechnical and geological professions. Our Christchurch office was set up in 2012 following the Canterbury Earthquake Sequence between September 2010 and June 2011 with the aim of providing geotechnical services for the Christchurch rebuild.
Our Christchurch office works closely with Ground Investigation Ltd , who use drill rigs fitted with dynamic probes and the latest CPT and SDMT testing equipment, so that we can provide both fieldwork and consulting services to optimise time and costs in delivering geotechnical reports. If you are considering selling or purchasing a property, it is prudent to have the property checked for possible problems with building foundations or ground instability. Retaining walls are structures that support a vertical face of earth, usually a cut or fill face. Movements of the ground can often result in displacement of house foundations.
Liquefaction is a phenomenon in which the strength and stiffness of a soil is reduced by earthquake shaking or other rapid loading.
