What you should know about Auckland Academw of Dance
The Auckland Academy of Dance provides high caliber training with professional teaching staff in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop dance and more recently theatre arts. Classes are taught for preschool children aged 3 and 4 years and school aged children from 5 18 years, with some adults classes available. We offer classical ballet training following the Royal Academy of Dance RAD Grades and Vocational Syllabi from the Pre Primary classes aged 5 years to Advanced 2 and Solo Seal. Classes are available for Pre School Jazz for 4 year olds through to advanced levels.
For Ballet children from Grade are expected to attend two classes a week if they wish to sit the examinations. Vocational Ballet students are expected to do a minimum of two classes per week, but must attend three classes per week including Saturday open classes if they wish to sit the examinations. A full refunds are available for students who withdraw from classes within the first 3 weeks of each term. All students except adults must purchase and wear the correct Auckland Academy of Dance regulation uniform for their grade genre within the first term of starting classes.
Auckland Academy of Dance will aim to provide a safe learning environment to reduce the risk of injury. Auckland Academy of Dance provides qualified and or experienced dance teachers, who actively promote safe dance practice. Auckland Academy of Dance students are under supervision whilst in class time only. While we endeavor to provide a safe environment, teachers and staff can not be responsible for students outside their allocated class time.
All syllabus Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary classes are taught with the intention that students will work towards sitting their examinations during the year. Students will be entered into examinations at the discretion of the teacher, in consultation with students and parents caregivers. Students participating in the concert are required to attend extra rehearsals, dress rehearsals and all performances. Concert tickets are available for purchase from studio reception 1 month prior to the performance.
Parents caregivers are able to film their own child in class during Watching Week which is the last week of each month. Students who leave the Academy are not permitted to perform choreography that was developed specifically for them by Auckland Academy of Dance teachers as a solo or as part of a team group without prior permission
